Superdome - Sydney (Australia)

Sydney Superdome

The Sydney Superdome was designed for the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, where it hosted the gymnastics and basketball events and served as the gateway venue to the Olympic competition venues.

The Superdome is an entirely enclosed stadium, fully air conditioned arena with seating for up to 20,000 people - the largest indoor space in the Southern Hemisphere. It was designed as a completely flexible entertainment and sports facility permitting a diverse range of performances from basketball to ice hockey, rock concerts to circuses.

The $200 million arena opened towards the end of 1999. Cox Richardson designed the facility in association with Devine Deflon Yaeger, and it received the IOC/IAKS Silver Medal in 2003.

Jet Nozzles type DUK

The bowl of the Superdome's main arena was air conditioned using TROX jet nozzles. Eight separate arrays of 16 DUK-V-K/400 jet nozzles were installed 8 metres above the floor discharging 51 m³/s of conditioned air across a 26 metre throw at a 20° inclined angle with a terminal velocity of <0.1m/s and 35dB(A) sound power level.

Staircase Swirl Diffusers type SD

TROX SD type staircase swirl diffusers provided conditioned air to individual seats in areas not covered by the jet nozzles, with the Corporate Suites being served by VAV terminal units.
